Posted: Sep 19, 2016
Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test (NMAT) is conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). GMAC provides products and services to academic institutions and prospective students. Earlier NMAT was conducted by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai. Since 2015 onwards NMAT is being conducted by GMAC.
There has been a lot of changes that has been introduced in the exam pattern of NMAT. There are three sections namely the Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and the Logical Reasoning. There are 120 questions altogether and the total time allotted is 120 minutes. The Language skills sections consists of 32 questions, quantitative skills section consists of 48 questions and the logical reasoning section consists of 40 questions. The time allotted to these sections is 22 minutes, 60 minutes and 38 minutes respectively.
The language skill section will mainly comprise of the para jumbles, grammar based questions, reading comprehensions, sentence completion, vocabulary etc. The number of questions in this section are of equal proportion. Some of the preparation tips that one should keep in mind are that one has to take care of the speed. There are 120 questions and the time allotted is 120 minutes. Wasting time on the difficult questions is not advisable. One should solve the easy questions and strong section first, and then move on to the difficult ones. While practicing the sample papers and mock tests, try to manage time. Solve questions with a time deadline at first. Practice will not only help in increasing the solving speed but will also help one in analyzing as to what more one needs to cover. Hence, solve as many mock tests and practice papers as possible. Devote more time in preparing the weaker section rather than the ones on which one has good command off.
While registering for the exam, one needs to log in to the official site of Nmat and create an account using a valid email id. One then has to provide all the relevant personal information and pay the registration fees. Also, one has to choose the b- schools out of the total list of institutes which accept the NMAT score, to which they want to share their scores with.
The exam is scheduled to take place from 7 October 2016 onwards till 20 December 2016. One can retake the exam if not content with their performance. The retake schedule for the exam is from 8 October 2016 onwards till 21 December 2016. The results will be announced on 17 January 2017.
