Walking out of or into a shopping mall and noticing how the doors open automatically and close automatically behind oneself has become such a common visual these days that people do not seem to pay it much heed.

What are they?

Every time one drives into a highway and has to purchase a ticket as they are entering into a different territory one notices a big yellow handle in front of them which is lifted as soon as they are done purchasing the tickets, that is called a boom barrier and that also falls under these systems. The automatic sliding doors at supermalls and even small shops, where these machines detect your footsteps and nobody has to come all the way to the door to open it, they just automatically slide open, these have become a part of our daily lives and they all fall under the door automation system. This type of automation system is able to c

Various types of entrance automation systems:

  • The first one is the most common one which has been mentioned before as well, they are the automatic sliding doors, ones which are easily visible in front of shopping malls. In a huge mall it is obviously not possible for the guards to stand and slowly open all the doors one by one every time a customer comes in, hence these doors are of a huge help.
  • The second one is the boom barrier, a type of blocking systems which blocks cars and other vehicles from passing to the other side. Highway traffic is maintained by these boom barriers if one travels on the highway too much, or even if one has seen people crossing train stations then they would have noticed these boom barriers on either side of the road.
  • The third is the flap barrier, most commonly seen in subway stations. These are the barriers which does not let one pass till they detect the token which has been purchased by the customer, once it does that, it easily allows the customer to pass, and go all the way to the station to catch the metro, the same thing has to be repeated by the customer while returning as well. This system helps a lot in detecting fraud which people may have tried to perform by buying a ticket of lesser quantity and travelling to a farther distance unfairly.

The flap barrier is sometimes also replaced by the tripod turnstile in some countries. Even though these two are basically the same thing, the turnstile, staying true to its name has three legs quite like an actual tripod and which are very stiff and so not move till they detect a token, as soon as a token is detected the tripod starts to move allowing the customer to pass.

This helps the guards at subways and other stations to detect crimes easily and they do not have to look after each and every one of those thousand people who come in each and every day. They can just leave it to these automation systems to catch the wrong doer. The entrance automation system has become so popular in today’s world that almost every undertaking has such entrance systems. But these automation systems are not just limited to malls and undertakings. There are many places where security in an important concern and so for such area automation system works like boon. It is true that human can make mistake but machines cannot and thus when question is about security it is good to opt for best among all.
