All You Wanted to Know About the Tata Nano GenX

The Tata Nano GenX brings some new features on board and is surely an improved version of the former Nano. Here’s a quick overview of the cosmetic and technical updates of this car:

Hatch at the rear

The first change that hits the eye is its styling. At the rear of the Nano Genx, lies a hatch, which can be opened. The boot space is about 110 litres, which is said to be enough to accommodate one suitcase and two hand bags. In the AMT version, the engine compartment is a bit raised, resulting in 94 litres of cargo room. Of course, after folding down the rear seats, one can get a whopping 500 litres of space.

AMT Version

The AMT version comes outfitted with the AMT actuator that has been sourced from Italy's Magnetti Marelli. It has a 5-speed gearbox compared to the 4-speed in the manual version. Then there is the Sport Mode, which enables the driver to hold on to a lower gear in order to get the right pumping of energy. The 624cc/37.4bhp engine offers improved thermal management. With the radiator being moved to the front, the car can now be handled in a better fashion. The front-end of the car has been strengthened. The frontal-crash crumple zone has also been increased in length. All the doors are now outfitted with side impact beams.

Technical Specs and Performance

Under the hood, the car now has a 24 litre fuel tank, instead of the earlier 15 litre tank. This has also positively impacted the driving range, which has been extended to over 500 kilometres. The fuel efficiency has also been improved with the manual version offering 23.6 kmpl and AMT rendering a mileage of 21.9Kmpl.

Exteriors & Interiors

Though the GenX is still a small car similar to its earlier version, yet, it has some new Tata parts that make it look stylish. These include the black bumpers and headlamps with black bezels. Then there is the infinity symbol motif, which appears on the bumpers as well as the seat and the door-trim fabric. Another good news is that the seats are better contoured, which provide an enhanced ride comfort. Other notable features include bluetooth enabled phone and music-streaming function and fine quality plastic.
