Artist spotlight DUX Glass

We recently got a chance to talk to Dux and ask him a couple questions and boy were the responses great! Check it out! Be on the lookout for Dux and Justin Carter coming up in March.

1. How long? 5 years, 3 years in pendants and marbles and 2 years pipe working.
2. How did you start? I didn’t know glass making was a thing until I met a marble maker that took me under his wing.
3. Inspiration? The ocean, strippers, unwrapped presents, hyper cubes, Klien bottles, the unknown
4. Current torch? GTT Mirage
5. Favorite style? I saw a Jag and Salt collab 3 years ago and I’ve always wanted to aspire to that
6. Future goals? DON’T DIE!
7. Work alone or with a group? Often alone for days, months…. but it’s nice to collab every now and then. I do work with people when they are around though.
8. Any particular artist you work with? I worked with JAC, we had a blast!
9. Who would you like to work with? all the heady locals, AKM, 2Stroke, ETR
10. How has the industry changed? The information age has blown it up.
11. Concentrate or flower? Flower
12. Any pets? 2 scorpions, 2 hermit crabs, a cat, 1 tiger and 3 dogs
13. Favorite beer, liquor? PBR all day! Right now I’m sipping on Sierra Nevada, tequila, whiskey, vodka.. I love it all
14. Favorite convention, venue? Intergalactic Conference of Andromeda
15. Favorite place to travel? Germany, Berlin, beaches, woods
16. Favorite food? Tacos, only Tacos
17. Favorite movie? The Dark Crystal
18. If not a glass artist, what? Tier installer
19. Favorite music or artist? The guys with bucket drums sitting outside the bars when I leave.
20. Any generation to be born? 60′s, 70′s, 80′s…? I actually wish I could’ve been born in the 1920′s, Pin Stripe suits and Tommy Guns!!
21. Where do you relax? In the mountains on my snowboard, it’s the only way to slow my mind.
22. Go back 5 years, what would you do? Stop the BP oil spill from happening
23. Typical day? Get up at 7am, procure an iced black coffee, start working, head home, give money to the homeless, save a damsel in distress, eat tacos, drink beer, sleep, repeat
24. When you’re not working, what? Always working but, in the off chance I’m not I’m eating tacos, snowboarding, playing hockey, scuba diving, or volunteering in my community.
25. Next project? Working on more sculptural pieces with more detail.
