Crystal glass engraving is one of the most popular types of this kind of method. These engravings consist of stunning crystal designs that contain a 3D image captured within them. Nowadays, they are showing up all over the place - from corporate presentations to the biggest sporting events on the planet, crystal trophies are regularly presented to the lucky recipients.

Crystals represent timeless beauty, and there is no doubt they look absolutely stunning in any setting. It's no surprise, therefore, that they have become so popular. But what is the actual process of creating them?

It All Starts with an Image

The quality of a crystal glass engraving relies to a great extent on the quality of the 3D image design, and this often begins with a two-dimensional image. Firstly, a 2D image or drawing is chosen - this could consist of a photo of a building or a picture of a person or animal. The image can essentially be anything that will have significance to the recipient.

Often, more than one image of the same subject is better for the designers. This allows them to create a 3D image using 2D images from different angles, and can help them to create a better finished product. However, really skilled designers can also work from a single image or even a drawing.

The 3D Design is Created

Once the designers have their image – or images – to work from, they set about creating a three-dimensional image. This is a highly skilled task, and designers make use of powerful computer design programmes to assist them. However, essentially it is their own creative skills and training that make the difference. A good designer will take a while perfecting the image, and when it is ready it will then be formed into a digital file. It is this file that will then be sent to the specialized studio.

The Engraving is Created

The engraving studio will then use the image to create a three-dimensional etching inside the crystal. They use specialist machines to do this, and if the image is high quality this will be reflected in the final product – a stunning crystal glass engraving that can be used as an award, trophy or gift.

Types of Products

There are countless types of engraving products on the market. These include:

  • Awards- Trophies- Paperweights- Key rings- Vases- Bowls- Coasters- Jewellery

However, the list is vast, so it really depends upon the type of product that you want.
