A Magnificent Venue for Weddings in Lebanon

High up on the Baysour mountains, in the region of Aley, you will be able to find the Hightower Castle, one of the most charming and luxurious outdoor wedding venues in Lebanon. All around Hightower Castle

The moment you enter the outer gates of the Castle, you are amazed by the colourful flower beds, the blooming bushes and shrubs, and the tall green trees that line the pathways and the seating areas. Just in front of the Castle’s central gate, there is the Lion’s Court – a green area of lawn and tall trees "guarded" by several marble statues of regal lions. The Castle itself is also stunning. Its high stone turrets with their brown curved windows and its columned porch, together with the beautifully painted ceilings lit by elaborate chandeliers take you back in time to medieval castles.

Both the interior and exterior of the Castle have been extensively renovated, but while its grounds are now one of the best events venues in Lebanon, the refurbishment of the interior is expected to finish by 2018. However, a small hall has been tastefully decorated with elegant furniture and a scale model of a turret and is offered for memorable wedding photos. Another great place for wedding photos is the beautiful water fountain which is in the centre of the courtyard in front of the entrance to the Castle.

The Story of the Hightower Castle

Even though the Castle looks old, it was only built about half a century ago as the private residence of Hussein Kaedbay, a prominent Lebanese engineer. In 1962, Kaedbey could see that there would be difficult years ahead for his country and its people. He chose to build his residence on top of this mountain ridge and protected it with a high fortified wall, a watchtower near its front gate and an underground tunnel that would provide its residents an escape route in case of emergency.

Several years later, in 1975 and at the beginning of the civil war, Kaedbey died and the estate was sold to Kamal and Ghada Aridi. When the civil war finished in 1990, Aridi decided to turn the place into a real castle. After having repaired all the damages to the building itself and to its fortified wall, he had four high turrets added on each of the four corners of the old building. At the same time, the grounds of the castle were replanted and landscaped to make the stunning gardens that visitors can enjoy today.

The Hightower Castle Today

After the landscaping of its gardens, the Castle has been used as one of the most stylish Lebanon Wedding Venues.
