The First Years of Hightower Castle

Hightower Castle was not built to be an events venue. It was designed and constructed in 1962 by a distinguished Lebanese engineer, Hussein Kaedbey, who could sense the war coming and wanted a secure home for his family. That is why apart from his beautiful, large home he constructed a huge fortified wall all around his property, created a watchtower near its gate and had an underground tunnel made as an escape route in case of emergency.

After Kaidbey’s death in 1975, the property was sold to Kamal and Ghada Aridi, but during the civil war it suffered plenty of damages. After the war in 1990, Aridi decided to turn the large building into a real castle by adding high turrets on its corners. It took the owners many years of hard work and a lot of money to turn the old home and its grounds to the majestic Castle we see today.
