Posted: Oct 13, 2016
After the huge success of Wagon R, Suzuki is now bracing up to launch the Wagon R 7-Seater. Read on for more details about this much-awaited MPV.
The premium car manufacturer Suzuki is all set to launch a handful of new vehicles in the country in this fiscal. Out of the lot, the Wagon R 7-seater deserves a special mention. This vehicle was unveiled as a concept car, way back in 2013, at the Indonesia International Motor Show. Reports suggest that this car model will be the first one to be manufactured at the company’s new facility in Gujarat.
Here’s a sneak peek of the styling and Suzuki car parts of this much-awaited MPV:
Technical Specs
The vehicle will be available in two engine options, including a K-Series petrol and a 0.8-litre twin-cylinder DDiS 125 diesel. It is being said that the petrol version may either constitute the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine or the 83.1bhp, 1.2-litre engine. The company also offers two transmission options, a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. It is anticipated that the auto manufacturer may provide CNG and LPG fuel options too. However, these will be offered only at a later stage. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, since there is a high probability that the vehicle would share its engine with the popular Swift, hence, it is expected that the new make would also render a mileage of 20.4 kmpl, just like the Swift does.
Competition
This new vehicle from the house of Suzuki will be positioned below the Ertiga, but it will be one notch higher than the Eeco. It is estimated that once launched, this model will have to compete with Datsun Go+.
Price
It is estimated that the upcoming vehicle will carry a price tag of about INR 80,000 – 90,000 higher than its sibling Wagon R. The difference in pricing may be attributed to the presence of 7-seat configuration along with an efficient engine. The expected price of the vehicle is INR 4.5 lakh – 6 lakh, which will make it the most affordable car in its segment.
Exteriors & Interiors
According to reports, the 7-seater will come in dual-tone beige and purple interiors, and will share its platform with its hatchback sibling. Not only that, it will also feature the same tall-boy design and high ground clearance as found in the Wagon R.
