What Would You Rather Sleep On, Something Artificial or Natural?

The Tao is the Way of Nature

When it comes to health, comfort, longevity, and living in harmony with Nature as well as society, it’s important to purchase eco-friendly products, especially when buying furniture, since furniture represents a serious domestic investment, and if and when it becomes obsolete, it usually ends up polluting the environment as a long-term resident of a landfill. If you had your wish, it’s safe to say that you would not want to sleep on a box-spring and a mattress made from toxic chemicals and materials. It’s safe to say that you would rather sleep on a natural, rubber latex mattress that reclines on a bed-frame made from bamboo, which is also a natural and wildly renewable resource.

In addition to its orthopedic value and its ecological status, a latex mattress also offers other health benefits. For example, dust mites thrive by the millions in conventional synthetic, foam mattresses. Extensive research shows that one cause of disease is allergic reactions to dust mites and their waste products. Some of the common symptoms include: fatigue, itching, rashes, sneezing, coughing, sleepless nights and other distressingand unnecessary reactions.

The Land of Milk & Honey

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to know that these types of issues happenedmuch less with products made from natural materials during earlier periods of history. If fact, using all natural materials was the norm with humanity for thousands of years. Take pasteurized milk for example: For centuries, people consumed raw, unpasteurized milk without getting sick or dying. It wasn’t until cows, milk and dairy products in general became pawns in a major modern industry that pasteurization became a necessity. It wasn’t until blatant commercialism got so out of control that cow-dung began to pollute the milk on a regular basis, making it necessary to boil it so it wouldn’t kill people. Today, more and more states in America are claiming the right to legalize the retail sale of raw milk, which is the kind of milk our founding fathers and our founding mothers drank each day, not to mention their kids, or us.

The Combustion Engine& Its Gasoline Fallout

By the same token, it was right around the mid-19th century, after the discovery of petroleum and the internal combustion engine, that human-beings began to reject natural ingredients and materials in favor of crude-oil-based, synthetic materials produced in laboratories and factories. Although the advent of synthetic products made from petroleum tells a sad story, the use of oil to produce gasoline and napalm to burn people alive is even sadder. During the Vietnam War, Buddhist monks poured gasoline all over their bodies and set themselves on fire to protest the insane torture and killing of war, and yet somehow they didn’t even feel the pain. That kind of sacrifice is an obvious gesture of true love, and Jesus Christ would agree, not to mention Moses, Mohammed, Lao Tzu, Krishna, Patanjali, Mary Magdalene, and many other relatives.

On a happier note, platform-beds and latex mattresses are created from natural elements, instead of synthetic petrochemicals, veneers, or glues that off-gas into your home with detrimental effects. So, do yourself and your family a big favor and vote/buy eco-friendly.
