Adding some pizazz to your commercial van with awesome graphics isn’t just a way to make it look cool -- it can also pay off as a convenient, versatile form of advertising. That’s right -- if your fleet is still using plain old white vans, and you haven’t had them wrapped yet, you’re missing out on a prime opportunity to let the world know, that you exist.

Think about it -- every day, while you’re out on the job, you drive past a lot of people. How many people? Anywhere from hundreds to thousands. With vehicle graphics that are colorful, eye-catching, and -- this part is important -- easy to read, you’ll definitely get noticed.

Some Surprising Facts about Vehicle Wraps

At first glance, vehicle wraps might look awfully expensive, and you might question whether anyone actually notices them. But believe it or not, the actual statistics say otherwise.

  • Vehicle wraps are one of the least costly advertising options. Think about traditional advertising -- for purposes of this argument, we’re leaving out digital channels like SEO and Facebook ads. A typical Yellow Page ad can run about $100 a month. If you want a full page, full color ad, you’re looking at more like $4000. The monthly cost of a billboard can be anywhere from $700 to $2500. Vehicle wraps run in the low thousands, but it’s a onetime purchase that lasts up to seven years.
  • They can reach a lot of people, at a low cost. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, a wrapped vehicle can net anywhere from 30,000 to 80,000 impressions per day, depending on how far you drive and what area you’re located in. That’s at a cost of four cents per thousand impressions, versus $3.56 per thousand impressions for outdoor billboards, and a relatively high $19.70 per thousand impressions for newspaper ads.
  • They get noticed. You might think that your van graphics don’t really register in people’s minds, but this isn’t necessarily the case. In an American Trucking Association study, 98% of people interviewed said that they thought fleet graphics created a positive image for the company. 96% said fleet graphics influenced them more than billboards. 29% said they would base a buying decision on their impression from the graphics -- keep in mind that your graphics reach thousands of people every day.
  • They can bring a substantial return on investment. There’s never any guarantee, but on the whole, most local service companies see an encouraging ROI from their vehicle wraps. You can quantify this by promoting a separate phone number, a special discount, or a unique landing page that’s advertised only on your vehicle wraps.
  • They add extra protection to your vehicles. Today’s vinyl wraps are sturdy and durable, and they can actually add an extra layer of protection from chips and scratches to your van’s paint. This can pay off when you decide to upgrade your fleet and sell the old vans, at which point the vinyl can be easily removed.
