Till 2014 CMAT was held twice a year first in February and then in September, but last year the CMAT 2015 paper was scraped, and the organizing committee of CMAT AICTE announced that from 2016 they would conduct only one exam that too in January. Although other than this there were no significant changes in the examination pattern it is still a computer based test but now it CMAT exam will be held across the nation on a particular day. Every year at around 50,000 MBA aspirants appear to be a part of the race for top B-Schools in India.

A candidate should be aware of top colleges in which he/she is aiming for admission as different institutes have different cut-offs and different way of finalizing the decision on a particular candidate. Candidates have to decide what they want and what parameters they fix in for a specific B-School The cut-offs of the top Management colleges accepting CMAT scores can be defined according to the three parameters, ranks, scores, and percentiles. Candidate can get a fair idea about what top 10 B-Schools require for admission in their management program through CMAT examination

A high demand and not the same amount of seats to fulfill the needs only about 2 to 5 % of 2.5 lakh student appearing for exams end up in good colleges. This number is rising with every passing year and no of applications is increasing exponentially which creates a huge gap in supply and demand.

A candidate can understand that CMAT cut off for B-schools ranges from 45 percentile to 90+ percentile. If we talk about scores, they range from 160 to 285. Several colleges in India also accept CMAT ranks as cut off. When the CMAT result is declared, the candidates can see his or her score and rank.

After the score and rank, candidates can apply for the college of their choice keep in mind what courses they are offering. After the completion of application collection colleges will have around two- three rounds of selection process. CMAT has the three-step selection process, after which their cutoff will shortlist the candidate.
