Catalog, brochures, leaflets, flyers and pamphlets; almost everyone who have studied or done marketing must have heard about these being used to promote your business. But, are these all same? Or are there minute differences between each of these print-marketing materials? Well!

Read this post to get the answer:

Catalog:

A catalog is a list of products/items with a brief description of each of these. Experts at the best best catalog printing agencies in New York suggest focusing on the USPs of the products while writing descriptions. A catalog may have 4 or more pages and should have a good mix of pictorial and textual information including your contact number and web address. Both the design and the font used in the catalog should be eye-friendly. These are either printed on glossy paper or sent in as an email (e-catalog).

Brochure:

These are printed on a standard A-4 size paper which has been folded either twice or thrice (according to its length). The idea is to create four or six equal-sized panels. These are a bit more expensive to print and are created to be kept and referred to again and again. In terms of information, these have more details as compared to a catalog and may have 8 or more pages. These are used to follow up after an initial sales-related contact with a person or a company, handed out at the end of a sales presentation or are kept as take-aways during business exhibitions, trade-shows etc.

Pamphlet:

According to Britannica Encyclopaedia, "in the UNESCO definition, it is an unbound publication that is not a periodical and contains no fewer than 5 and no more than 48 pages, exclusive of any cover." Many businesses prefer making a pamphlet out of a single sheet of paper that is printed on both sides and folded in half, in thirds or in fourths. It may also be made using a few pages that have been folded in half and stapled at the crease to make it look like a booklet. Other than marketing and business communication, a pamphlet is used to educate or inform or mobilize people to support any cause/idea/group.

Flyers:

Also known as a handbill, flyer is usually printed on a single piece of paper measuring 8 ½" x 11" (A4). If you are low on budget and want to promote your business locally, flyers are a feasible option to consider. These are usually handed out along with newspapers or are distributed to passers-by. It gives out small amount of information and may be able to capture the attention of your customer for a very short while; hence a catchy tagline and relevant information should be printed on a flyer.

Leaflet:

A leaflet is similar to a flyer, but has a better quality in terms of paper and print. This also means they are relatively costlier as compared to flyers, but less expensive to print as compared to a catalog, brochure or a pamphlet.

Which one of these do you prefer to use?
