Ways to unfreeze your iPhone without shutting down

Update your iPhone's software. If a software bug caused your freeze, the latest software may have resolved it. Click on your iPhone's name when it appears under "Devices" in the left sidebar, followed by the "Summary" tab above the main pane on the right. Click "Check for Update" and then follow the prompts to download and install the update.
