To successfully lose weight it is crucial to pick the right diet plan, or you will fail before you start. Choosing the wrong diet is one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people don't stick with a weight loss program. You must combine the right meal plan with proper exercise to lose weight and keep it off, but choosing the right one can be dicey. Many people see celebrities or even their friends losing weight on certain plans and adopt that regimen expecting the same results, which is wrong. If you consume less than 1200 calories a day your body goes int starvation mode: it slows your metabolism and stores fat instead of burning it to hold on to the few calories it is getting. For a diet to succeed you should take in between 1200-1400 calories a day and eat a healthy breakfast to let your body know it's okay to burn calories. Try taking in between 300-500 calories at breakfast, ideally after your morning workout to boost your metabolism. Those calories should come from foods rich in fiber, healthy fats and low-fat dairy to fuel your body and promote weight loss. Foods rich in fiber are known to promote healthy loss. These include fruits like fried figs, raspberries, apple, pear, bananas, strawberries, orange, raisins, etc.

You're Craving Everything You See
A diet that limits what you can eat or eliminates entire food groups completely will have you craving all kinds of foods. These types of diets leave you feeling hungry, frustrated and can even make you sick. When you restrict one food group it throws your body out of whack and you end up with intense cravings that will sabotage your diet. This often happens in the case of carbohydrates. Many of today's diet plans call for you to limit you carb intake, which may help you shed weight, but it is only temporary. Low carb diets are not sustainable over extended periods because they cause feelings of severe food deprivation and are unrealistic. Also, many fad diets, like liquid diets, often lack several key nutrients, which can lead to dehydration, fatigue and may cause you to pass out from insufficient calories. A balanced diet will leave you feeling full and help you reach your goal faster.

You're Diet Is Making You Sick
Your diet should energize you and leave you feeling satisfied. If you feel lethargic or slightly ill then that is a serious signal that your diet is wrong for you. An improper diet will make you tired often from a lack of essential vitamins and minerals. It drains your body of the nutrients it needs to nourish you which can cause tiredness, nausea and headaches. You will often wake up tired and continue to feel that way throughout the day until you start eating foods rich in vitamins, like fruits and vegetables.
You Can't Lose Weight
If you have transitioned to a healthy diet and you can't lose a pound you need to have a second look at your diet. A healthy diet will allow you to lose weight at a consistent pace. If that is not happening then you need to make some changes. You may be taking in the right amount of calories but getting them from the wrong types of food which will cause you to stay at the same weight. It could also be you are not eating enough and need to add additional calories. Either way your diet will need to be changed.
