Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, a Jamaican artist lyricist, artist and guitarist was born on 6 February 1945. Unfortunately, the star musician was diagnosed with a rare skin cancer called acral lentiginous melanoma in 1977. He could not survive it beyond four years, and succumbed to it in 1981 in Miami at age 36. He was a dedicated Rastafari who injected his music with a feeling of spirituality. He is viewed as a standout amongst the most compelling performers ever and credited with advancing reggae music around the globe, and also serving as an image of Jamaican culture and personality.
