Admit it, a plate of Pani Puri from a roadside vendor makes you forget all about your diet, aversion to too much spice, and in most cases, hygiene. But what if you could enjoy what is undoubtedly the most popular street food of the country from the comfort of your own home? Follow this recipe to make kickass Pani Puri at home!

You will need:

  1. For the masala (stuffing) in the puri:

    1. Medium sized potatoes, 3

    2. Medium sized onion, 1

    3. Chopped coriander leaves

    4. Roasted cumin powder, 1 tsp

    5. Chat Masala

    6. Red chilli powder

    7. Black salt

  2. For the Pani:

    1. Chopped mint leaves

    2. Chopped coriander leaves

    3. Ginger

    4. Green chilli

    5. Seedless tamarind

    6. Sugar

    7. Chat masala

    8. Roasted Cumin Powder

    9. Black salt

      OR

    10. Instant Pani Puri Masala

  3. Puris and seasoning

Here are the steps to making the stuffing of the puri:

  1. Boil the potatoes well, until they are cooked and mushy.

  2. Peel them completely.

  3. Chop them into small pieces.

  4. Take the onions and chop them finely.

  5. Take a small bowl, and mix everything well. Add black salt, salt, chilli powder, and chat masala according to your taste. Mix everything well and keep it aside for use later.

When you are done making the stuffing, make pani with these easy steps:

  1. You can either use the above mentioned ingredients for pani.

  2. Mix them all in a blender.

  3. Add water.

  4. Mix well and add chat masala, chili powder, sugar, according to your taste.

  5. If the water is too thick or tastes too strong, add more water to it.

  6. Add seasoning.

But in my experience, the easier way to make the pani and not mess something up is to use a readymade Pani Puri masala. You can’t go wrong with it, and the steps are easy.

  1. Take water.

  2. Add Pani Puri Masala.

  3. Mix well.

  4. Done.

You can add sugar and tamarind to this according to your taste, but the masala should be good enough on its own.

Serve with puris!

Pani Puri is mainly a street side dish, and there’s very little chance that it will taste exactly as that of a vendor’s. But to make sure that it tastes well, use the best ingredients and fresh vegetables. I would suggest buying the readymade products like masalas and other and other Spices online in India from Suruchi. Suruchi has a wide range of spices, like the best Premium Pani Puri masala and Premium Chat Masala, apart from chilli powder and dhaniya powders. These products will give your pani puri a rich and original taste.

Take this quick and easy way to make Pani Puris at your own home today, and enjoy a delicious snack!
