Now that NMAT by GMAC has declared results for Windows 1 and 2, obvious doubts that come to mind are whether going for a retake is a good option or no. At some point of time, the scores that are got are to be compared with the cut-off scores laid by different institutions for admission purposes.

Let us go via a step by step analysis like-wise:

  • If your overall cut-off is greater than 215, you can easily skip the option of applying for a retake. Considering the prospective institutions that you might consider like NMIMS(Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai) and XIMB, you are sure to get calls from them. You can most likely focus on other entrance exams for MBA admissions apart from
Nmat into other institutions.

  • If your overall cut-off is lower than 210, the Mumbai campus of NMIMS automatically is taken-off your list. Minus this option, you would get calls from others.
  • If your cut-off is lower than 205, the Mumbai campus of NMIMS and XIMB would not consider you for admission. You can either consider NMIMS Hyderabad and Bangalore Campus. However, you may take a retake to at least maximize your score up to 210.
  • If your cut-off is somewhere placed between 175-200, then you might have to work hard on your speed and content. Try refocusing on sections that are your strengths and do them well.
  • If your score is lower than 175, you might have to give up on the attempt as you have to address a larger cut-off and the hard work required is humongous.

This is just a guide to help you decide for NMAT 2017 retakes. However, one can always decide the best course of action for himself based on whatever his/her strengths are. The last date for applying NMAT retakes is 15th December 2016 and make use of the same. The results for the final window is scheduled to be announced in January 2017. All the best for all the NMAT examinees and make most of the three attempts to ensure that you score well and get admitted in an institution of your choice.
