Need for Speed: 2016 gave India Skydiving and a Super Fast Train

Skyhigh India, established in February 2016 is India's first full time international standards commercial skydiving drop zone. Located just two and a half hours away from New Delhi via the Yamuna Expressway, Skyhigh India is the first company of its kind that has made skydiving available and accessible in India all through the year. The company is a foreign affiliate of the United States Parachuting Association (USPA), the equipment and staff carries the stamp of international standards. Skyhigh has earned the title of being a foreign affiliate of the United States Parachuting Association (USPA). This means that India now has a world class drop zone that works according to international safety standards. The most sophisticated equipment in accordance with globally accepted standard operating procedures for skydiving is imported to India from the USA. The Federal Aviation Authority of America (FAA) certified packers pack reserve Parachutes only and Automatic Activation Devices (AAD) installed in all parachute systems used at the drop zone. The aircrafts used for skydiving are certified by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

In order to participate in this extreme adventure sport, people usually have to travel abroad, making it the sport not just inaccessible but also unaffordable. Skyhigh India has changed that by finally bringing world-class skydiving to India at affordable prices. The jump cost starts at 27,500 INR and there are different packages for groups and several offers run by the drop zone to encourage and popularize the sport. The drop zone is operational five days of the week but advance bookings and medical certificate of fitness are pre requisites to the jump.

Apart from the world-class adventure sport, India’s also got its first super fast train in 2016. India’s fastest train; Gatimaan Express was started this year. The Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu flagged off the nation’s first semi-bullet train, which would commute to and fro from New Delhi to Agra. The train would ply at a speed of 160 km/hr. The train runs between the Hazrat Nizammudin station in Delhi to Agra Cantt and completes the distance in 100 minutes or 1 hour 40 minutes. Until now, The Shatabdi trains along with The Rajdhani Express were known for their speed, now with the new launch, Gatimaan, Indians will have better trains with quality and speed. The train is operational 6 days of the week, except Fridays.

Gatimaan Express leave Nizamuddin railway station at 8.10 am and reaches Agra Cantt. at 9.50 am. The the train departs from Agra at 5.50 pm to reach Nizamuddin at 7.30 pm. The fare for chair car is Rs 690, while Executive Class seats are priced at Rs 1,365. Passengers of Gatimaan Express are ushered in by train hostesses, offered roses and given free access to multimedia content. Indian and continental cuisine is served on the train. The whole experience is quite a treat.
