Residual values are muscular for private buyers though it is very cheap and well built. Nissan Pathfinder is very good competitor for Discovery and gets close to its fate. The 2.5-litre diesel engine with four cylinders is effective, the Pathfinder will go everywhere off-road, and it is a comfortable seven seater plus, its remarkable value. North American International Auto Show 2004 was used as platform by Nissan to unveil an entirely redesigned and refreshed Pathfinder for the 2005 model year. The Nissan F-Alpha platform was used for new R51 Pathfinder and it has a body on frame structure. A 4.0 L V6 engine leads the Pathfinder from under the bonnet. This is a VQ40DE engine which has 266 hp (198 kW) of power and the twisting power of 288 lb· ft (390 Nm) of torque.

A 2.5 Litre diesel engine is also there, it is an YD25DDTi Turbo Diesel which is capable of producing 126 kW or 169 hp of power and a massive torque of 297 Lb-Ft. a full-size SUV was introduced in 2003 with the name of Pathfinder Armada. It has very good fuel economy over the combined urban cycle if it is mated to manual transmission. It returns 8.4 L/100 km which is almost a 1.4 L/100 km lower than the older version while CO2 emissions have dropped by 40g/km to make a 224 g/km for this new engine but both figures are class spirited. This version of the engine is also available in certain markets with a diesel particulate filter (DPF). A refreshed and modified Pathfinder was on sale in late 2012 as a 2013 model. It another time moved away from a body-on-frame, truck-based SUV and assume a unibody design Just like the second generation Pathfinder. As other models like the Infiniti JX, Altima, Maxima, Murano and Quest, Pathfinder also rides on the same platform.

The new Pathfinder is only to be had with a 3.5-Liter V6 VQ35DE engine capable of producing 260 hp and a torque of 240 lb-ft. It has very good fuel economy with 20mpg in city and 26mpg on motorway and on average it delivers 22 mpg for the FWD version while all wheel drive version returns 19mpg in the city and 25mpg on the motorway with an average of 21mpg.
