Inspired by a Finnish teaching philosophy of preparing children for life and the Reggio Emilia pedagogical approach, Little Paddington Preschool offers a world-class curriculum facilitated by well-trained educators within a conducive campus that is thoughtfully-designed to promote organic learning. We believe that early childhood education is the cornerstone to the future generation’s success and it is through early education that we can give children the necessary head start and invaluable life skills. Between the ages of 0 – 6 years old, children soak in information from stimuli around them like a sponge. Hence, it is important to immerse them in an environment that adapts foreign experiences into the local context, that is, to ensure that while they are succeeding academically within Singapore’s educational context; they are simultaneous becoming globally aware and worldly.

At Little Paddington, we understand that in addition to academic success, there is a compelling need to ensure that children grow up to be highly-adaptable global citizens. However, rather than to enforce and impress upon them, we prefer to act as a catalyst for their learning.

The Curriculum, Environment & Facilitators

Our enhanced project-based curriculum encourages children to notice, explore and discuss concepts. The main aim of weaving the project-approach into our curriculum is to arm children with a wide repertoire of soft and hard skills that can carry forward into their youth and adulthood. In a nutshell, the project-approach is a pedagogical framework that promotes organic learning – learning that occurs in a naturally. Without external influences, children develop curiosity about a particular subject. They will then ask questions, engage in discussions and research extensively to satisfy their curiosity about that particular concept. At Little Paddington, our teachers are trained to act as facilitators to guide them without interfering with this learning process. These facilitators play a crucial role in curriculum implementation, extension and evaluation. Thus, we constantly provide support and seek innovation from our educators and view them as passionate creators of new exciting content because we firmly believe that boosting teacher morale will in turn, encourage student success.

The learning methodology is further enforced through the school’s environment. Our outdoor and indoor spaces are prudently crafted to encourage learning without boundaries while bringing children as close to nature as possible. We consciously minimise the amount of artificial stimuli and rote-learning components and replace these with elements that prompts enquiry, discussion and dialogue.

On a monthly basis, children are introduced to a country, its history, culture, cuisines and language. We implement this by actively collaborating with expat parents and external volunteers to organise various activities such as show-and-tell sessions and thematic carnivals. The learning spaces in the United Nations atelier are then reworked to feature the country-of-the-month. This way, our children can experience foreign cultures with great ease, interact and learn about and with the world.

We understand the necessity and importance of academic success in Singapore and recognise our society’s growing need for adaptable, globally savvy individuals who will become engaged citizens, leaders and change-makers in their community. Little Paddington Preschool is built with the aspiration of providing the best of both worlds to the future generation and equipping them with the right skills set in their early years. We hope to educate, nurture and encourage children to be the best versions of themselves.
