Each hand carries a smart phone, irrespective of their age; the younger generation not only uses most of the top social networking websites in india but freely lies about their age online. If you are a daily traveler in metro or other public transport, youngsters immersed in their tablets and smart phones playing video games is a common sight. Gone are the days when we use to search for new information and knowledge online, today trending news is displayed on the social websites and the main focus has shifted to posting, blogging and sharing. What person searches for on internet also reflects their interest and focus. Few choose to download old bollywood songs while others search for image content like high resolution wallpapers.

Internet has created equal damage as much as assisted in the development. Youth today has completely shifted their attention to gaining more friends online, clicking better selfies, and watching movies online and chatting. The time is wasted; schools have banned smart phones yet a lot of phones seep into secret compartments and are used throughout classes. The question that arises is, does this mean a generation which lacks the high calculative intellect? Does internet make us lazy? Yes, it does. We no more remember phone numbers of our loved ones, we know more use our reasoning to calculate sums and use calculators instead; we have stopped memorizing facts and only search for it online on search engines. But as the disadvantages of online world are calculated let us not forget that internet has made it possible for a lot of sharp minds in rural areas to learn and educate themselves through distance learning, we can gather information about so many things online that books are yet to record.

What comes out conclusively to this deliberation is the fact that one is supposed to use their own reasoning abilities to limit the use of internet to a point where it is not excessive but beneficiary, banning smart phones will not stop teenagers from using it. We can educate them about the future prospects, advantages and disadvantages of the social networking. Restricting their access to the global world will not solve the problem but proper education can. There will always be instances of offensive use of internet to carry out mischief and wrongs but keeping in light the literacy rate that has shot up thanks to internet and connectivity, denying the deserving, hardworking students around the world their scope to expand knowledge will be injustice to them.
