Oral or tongue cancer has gradually become a common disease. People around us are often seen suffering from this disease but there is considerable lack of awareness for this disease. Oral or tongue cancer treatment have become more advanced these days and can easily cure people from this disease.

What is oral cancer?

This type of cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the mouth or tongue. This may also occur at the gums, bottom or top roof of the mouth or at the hard palate. Oral cancer is generally caused due to the bad food habits of people. This disease occurs more in male population than in the females. Chewing tobacco, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, poor oral hygiene or infection of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) causes oral cancer.

What are the symptoms?

  • Chewing problem

  • Difficulty in swallowing food

  • Difficulty in opening mouth

  • Bleeding inside the mouth

  • Change in voice

  • Oral infections and

  • Ulcer in the mouth.

What are various Treatments?

Tongue cancer treatment is easy now-a-days if it is detected at earlier stages and the patient does not ignore the same. There are various kinds of therapies which can heal oral or tongue cancer treatment. Some such therapies are:

i. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT): This therapy blends drugs and light to kill cancer cells. This oral cancer treatment is a short-term treatment of just 48-72 hours and does not have any negativity.

ii. Seed Knife Therapy: This seed implantation tongue cancer treatment does not require any surgery and the process is just of 45 minutes. This treatment is suggested for patients with slow growing tumor.

iii. Cryosurgical Therapy (CSA): This process uses freezing and thawing method to kill cancer cells. This is comparatively a long process and requires 2-3 sessions to cure oral cancer. The benefit of this process is that it prevents cancer from spreading.

iv. Combined Immunotherapy: This oral cancer treatment method involves three therapies, namely, Cytokine Induced Killer cells (CIK), Dendritic Cells (DC) and Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM). This process strengthens the immune system of the body and stops the recurrence of cancer.

v. Cancer Microvessel Intervention (CMI): if you want to avoid the strong side effects of chemotherapy then go for this oral cancer treatment.
