Although bottled spring water can quench your thirst in the hot summer temperatures, it may not always be just what you’re craving. Visit any swanky health spa or hotel, and you are likely to be offered a delicious cucumber water to tease your tastebuds and boost your hydration. Fortunately, you don’t need to spend a fortune as this cucumber infused water is an excellent way to make your spring water bottles even more refreshing at home.

Ingredients to Make Four to Six Servings:

One cucumber

Two lemons

Three mint leaves

Two litres of spring water

60 millilitres of agave syrup

Instructions:

Cut the cucumber and lemons into slice and place into a mason jar with the mint leaves. Fill the jar with your spring water and chill in the refrigerator for eight hours or overnight.

After eight hours, put half of the lemon, cucumber and mint from the jar with crushed ice into a large jug.

Use a muddle or wooden spoon to bash the remaining lemon, mint, and cucumbers in the jar. You are trying to press as much juice out of the pieces and into the spring water. Strain this into the pitcher. Add the agave and stir well. Add the remaining spring water and check the sweetness. Adjust if required. Serve with a cucumber garnish.

Bonus Cocktails:

While this cucumber infused spring water is deliciously refreshing, if you are planning a summer party or barbeque, it may not be the right choice for your guests. Fortunately, you can use your infused water as a basis for a fantastic cocktail.

If you want a simple, yet refreshing cocktail, you can add 60 millilitres of vodka per serving. This will not have a dramatic effect on the flavour of the water but will give it a pleasant kick.

If you want a more fruity cocktail, you can add 30 millilitres of limoncello and 30 millilitres of vodka. This will create a really zingy cocktail that is perfect to quench your thirst during an event in the hot outdoor temperatures of summer.

You can also tailor your cucumber water to suit your cocktail preferences. Why not experiment using Cointreau, good quality whisky or other spirits to see how you can make an interesting cocktail for your guests.

Cucumber water is a great way to detox your body, making it the perfect drink to enjoy this summer. Cucumber contains a number of vital nutrients including vitamin K, potassium, vitamin C, Vitamin B1, magnesium, and copper. So while you are getting refreshed, you will also be giving your body a boost in important vitamins and minerals.
