Indore, known as the commercial centre of Madhya Pradesh is the largest city in the state. Known for its rich cultural and architectural history, Indore is also one of the most modern and planned cities of Madhya Pradesh. Indore is also house to some of the best in class hotels in Madhya Pradesh. Some of the major places of attraction in Indore are:

  1. Central Museum: It is one of the most visited tourist destination in Indore. The museum is house to a collection dated around 5000 BC. It is divided into two sections. Firstly, it contains ancient artefacts while the other section is mostly concerned with carvings and sculptures.
  2. Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga: Situated at a distance of about 77 Km from Indore, this religious shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga spread all over the country. You can also enjoy a boat ride in river Narmada on whose bank is this Jyotirlinga situated.
  3. Lal Baag Palace: Voted as the most beautiful Palace in Indore, Lal Bagh Palace was constructed between 1886 and 1921. The gates of the palace are its main attraction which was cast in England and are an exact replica of the gates of Buckingham Palace.
  4. Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary: The sanctuary is spread over an area of 5 square Km and was established in 1989. The park is rich in flora and fauna and exotic animals like leopard, blackbuck, barking deer, sambhar, etc. do not fail to attract tourists to this place.
  5. Patal Pani Waterfalls: Situated at a distance of around 35 Km from Indore City, Patal Pani is a waterfall which is around 300 feet in height. The place is also a great trekking trail but one should be careful during rainy season, and it is always good to hire a local guide to take you to the falls.
  6. Rajwada Palace: Rajwada palace is a seven-storied palace which was constructed around two centuries back. It is a fine specimen of architectural genius of the bygone era. The palace has two parts- one of which is in the city center while the other is situated in the old town.
  7. Pipliyapala Regional Park: If you are a nature lover then you will not want to miss a walk around this park. The park is full of lush green plants and water fountains. You can also enjoy theatrical activities in the amphitheatre or just enjoy boating in the lake inside the park.

There are other spots like Tincha Falls, Gomatgiri and white Church, etc. which are great tourist attractions of Indore.
