Aluminium conductor manufacturers: Competing to deliver the best

Posted: Jan 05, 2017
Electricity has become an integral part of our lives and interruption in the supply of it brings our day to day chores to a halt. All we want is an uninterrupted supply of power so that we don’t have to suffer. Sometimes we fail to acknowledge the fact that the supply is possible only because there are individuals and companies who are working tirelessly to light up our lives. Power transmission is impossible without conductors; but how much do we know about them? There is no way that power can be transmitted without the power conductors and the quality of these conductors determines how efficiently the power can be supplied to us. The conductors play such an important role that the power transmission companies pay a lot of attention to their quality. The Aluminium conductor manufacturers also realize the importance of the quality. Hence the conductors are made from the best raw material and are passed through a series of quality checks.
The earliest conductors were made primarily of copper due to its superior conductivity however the manufacturers then moved to aluminium due to easy availability of the material. Although aluminium does not match the conductivity of copper but the power transmission companies came up with a solution to upgrade the quality of these conductors by using an alloy. The alloy used today for making these conductors is highly commendable as it enables these conductors to transmit electricity efficiently even at very high temperatures and frequency with minimal loss. This is an added advantage for the power transmission companies as it helps them save a sizeable amount of money which could be lost due to loss of power during transmission. Although the manufacturers have made a lot of technical improvements to the aluminium conductors, the possibility of further improvement makes them strive harder to come up with a product which offers better conductivity, consistency and durability.
The competition in the manufacturing industry is a good sign for the power generation and transmission companies as well as the end users because it ensures improved quality, competitive prices and better after sales service. On the other hand, the competition among the manufacturers also enables them to test the abilities of their research and development and production teams. The Indian market has abundant opportunities for aluminium conductor manufacturers as there are still a lot of areas where there is no electricity and there is a need to lay transmission lines. This means that there are a lot of business opportunities for power transmission companies and the manufacturers. The mix of opportunities and competition is definitely a good thing for all the parties involved. The Indian manufacturers have adopted advanced technology and the advancements brought about in these conductors have helped in expanding the horizons of their business. Many manufacturers have been consistent in meeting the global standards of quality for such products and are happily exporting the goods to other countries.
