The NPK fertilizer prices may vary from one supplier to another, but when you choose a reputed supplier you need not worry about the cost.

There are many companies offering NPK fertilizers in India but it is our duty to choose the reliable one in the market.

NPK fertilizers are named after the symbols of the three components of these chemical compounds, namely Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. Various kinds of NPK fertilizers are manufactured, by mixing different ratios of these three elements and these fertilizers are named according to these ratios. As these fertilizers are widely used by most of the farmers and the common people, NPK fertilizer prices are quite affordable for all.

But different kinds of NPK fertilizers are used for various specific functions. For example, 1-1-1 NPK fertilizer can be used in cultivating any plant; while 15-30-15 NPK is used only for growing flowering plants and 10-1-1 NPK is applied over the grasses of the lawns. Apart from these three main elements, some varieties of NPK also contain little amounts of other nutritional elements, like Iron, Calcium, Magnesium and Sulfur. Therefore, this kind of fertilizers is highly popular all over India, as in other parts of the world.

Reasons of the popularity of NPK fertilizers

  • The main aim of NPK fertilizer is to provide the soil its necessary nutritional strength, by supplying it with Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. Usually, the soil loses this natural strength due to repeated cultivation, which can be refilled by the application of this fertilizer.

  • This fertilizer is sprayed near the roots and over the foliage leaves of the plants, to supply them with the required nutrition for steady growth. The plants that cannot absorb the necessary nutrients from the soil can be supplied with the essential elements directly, in this way.

  • Nitrogen increases the chance of better germination of the cultivated seeds, when applied to the tilled soil. It also makes the leaves of the plants greener, by increasing the amount of chlorophyll; thus makes the plants healthier, with more photo synthesis reactions in the leaves.

  • Phosphorus is also essential for better photosynthesis reactions, resulting in the production of more amounts of starch, glucose and fatty acids within the plant cells, resulting in overall healthier plants. This element is mainly responsible for faster and easier conversion of the solar energy into the chemical energy within the leaves of the plants.

  • Potassium is the main element that aids in the better formation of healthy fruits in the plants, as it increases the protein content of the plant cells. This nutrient is also helpful in protecting the plants against many diseases.

  • Calcium present in this fertilizer helps in strengthening the cell walls of the plants. Magnesium increases the amounts of the components of the chlorophyll in the leaves and it also aids in the self repairing of the plant cells, in case of any injury. Sulfur helps in the healthy growth of the fruits, by increasing the amounts of plant protein; while Iron helps in faster photosynthesis, by increasing the activity power of the chlorophyll.

But it is essential for the users to be careful about the amounts of NPK fertilizers to be applied and the exact stages of the plants, when the fertilizer is most needed. So they should read the instructions provided in the labels of the fertilizer packets, as NPK fertilizers in India are sold with full information, regarding the proper usage and all the relevant cautions.
