There are plenty of Potassium sulphate manufacturers in our country. Potassium is an essential element for the plant growth, for which it is included in many fertilizers that are available in the market.

Many Potassium sulphate suppliers in India offer this white crystalline fertilizer in affordable prices, for the use of the common people.

Potassium sulphate, commonly referred to as Sulphate of Potash is widely used in the manufacture of fertilizer, whose chemical formula is K2SO4. As Potassium is widely available on the crust of the earth, all over the world; this fertilizer is easily manufactured in the factories, through various chemical reactions. Potassium Sulphate is also available in the nature, mixed with some amounts of Chlorine, Sodium and Magnesium, which are needed to be separated from K2SO4, through some complex chemical processes.

So the scientists prefer to create this compound directly from the reaction of Potassium Chloride and Sulfuric acid. But now the industrial scale production of this chemical compound is done through the chemical modifications of the Potassium containing minerals, like Kainite or Schoenite that are obtained from earth’s surface, through mining.

Advantages of using Potassium sulphate fertilizer

  • Potassium sulphate fertilizer provides the necessary amount of Potassium that is needed for various metabolic functions of the plant cells. Potassium helps in protein synthesis within the plant cells and increases the formation of starch and glucose in the leaves. Moreover, this element makes the water flow from the roots to the leaves much easier and it also supports the activities of the plant enzymes.

  • Apart from Potassium, this fertilizer also supplies Sulfur that is necessary for the timely growth of the plants.

  • This fertilizer can enrich the soil that becomes deficient in Potassium or Sulfur content, due to repeated cultivation for a long time.

  • Potassium Chloride, another fertilizer form of Potassium makes the soil chlorinated, which is not desirable for some plants. Hence, Potassium sulphate needs to be used as the only source of Potassium to the soil.

  • As this chemical compound is not fully soluble in water, it is generally applied directly in the powdered form, as available in the market. But if the addition of Sulfur is more essential, the irrigation water can be used to dissolve this fertilizer and apply near the plant roots.

The agricultural experts recommend the usage of this fertilizer in several small doses, instead of applying a lot of fertilizer at a time. This practice will prevent the accumulation of excess Potassium around the plant roots, as it is absorbed very slowly by the root cells. Otherwise, the soil will become too much saline, due to the presence of excess Potassium in it. The buyers can find many brands of this fertilizer from the Potassium sulphate suppliers, as many users prefer to apply this fertilizer directly to the foliage leaves of the plants, for faster absorption and speedy results, apart from addition to the soil. But they should be careful in applying it in low concentration, as excessive amount can adversely affect the health of the leaves.
