It is safe to say that becoming fit is not always easy or fun, in practice. However, we must also recognize that it is imperative in remaining healthy. Luckily, you don't need to take drastic measures. A bit of time and dedication will make all the difference. You may find it's even fun!

Make sure and find a workout routine that you enjoy so you can keep doing it. If you don't enjoy your exercise, chances are you are going to find reasons to stop doing it. Try out different exercises and different times to see what works for you. It may be that zoning out on the elliptical does the trick or taking a morning swim keeps you motivated. Jogging around the track before dinner could be your ticket to weight loss. Find what keeps you going back for more and you'll be well on your way to losing weight.

To help you perform your best during your workout, you need to stay hydrated. Losing even one percent of your body weight through sweat can place added stress to your cardiovascular system. Two hours before working out drink at least 16 ounces of water. During your workout drink five to ten ounces every 15 to 20 minutes. When you are finished with your workout drink at least 16 ounces of water for each pound of weight loss due to sweat.

Try to work out in the morning. Why? Anything can happen to you during the day that makes you tired, stressed and flat out reluctant to exercise. By starting your day with exercise, you get it out of the way and it's done. You can go on with the rest of your day knowing you've already done something good for your body.

For a healthier diet, try limiting beef intake to one day a week. Fill the other days with leaner, healthier cuts of meat such as chicken and fish. Giving your body a variety of meats will allow you to digest properly and to experience flavors that are better for your inner body.

When strength training or working with weights, try to keep your daily workout under 60 minutes. After an hour, your body responds to strength-building exercises by producing excessive amounts of cortisol. This hormone can block the production of testosterone and may actually impair the body's ability to build and maintain muscle.

To maximize the effects of your workouts, make sure to eat immediately after working out. Shakes full of protein are a great thing to consume after your workouts because they can help you build muscle very quickly. Try making one with fat-free frozen yogurt, fruit, egg substitute, and some cocoa powder for a great post-workout boost.

The bottom line is that while gaining fitness can be tough, if you set your mind to the potential benefits, you will surely succeed. There's no reason you should have to lift yourself by your bootstraps and design a healthy fitness routine all on your own. There's plenty of advice and assistance waiting for you; all you have to do is get serious about getting fit.
