It is important to look professional at work. From the top of your head to the tip of your toes you need to make careful choices about how you look. One thing to pay close attention to is your makeup.

It's no secret. Mornings can be hectic. Despite the fact you may be rushed, one thing you don't want to overlook is having enough time to do your makeup. After all, you only have one chance to make a first impression and you want that impression to be a good one.

Following are some tips to ensure you have a polished look for the office.

Step One: First, go easy on the makeup. A natural look is preferred for the office. Save your fun, colorful makeup for going out at night with your friends.

Step Two: Second, select a foundation that matches your skin tone. A thin application of foundation will cover any blemishes on your skin. If you wear too much foundation, you risk looking like you are wearing a mask. A light dusting of bronzing powder, on top of your foundation, can give you a little color without looking orange.

Step Three: Next, it is okay to make your eyes stand out at the office. A thin trace of an eyeliner can help you look awake. However, it is recommended to stick with eyeliner that is either black or brown for office wear. Likewise, a thin coat of mascara will help you look polished and professional. If you want to wear an eye shadow for work, go with a neutral color. Tan, brown and grey are safe colors for your eyelids.

Step Four: A soft color on your cheeks will make you look healthy, Avoid too much blush or you will end up looking like a clown. Colors that give your skin tone a soft glow is the right choice for work.

Step Five: Lip color should also either be neutral or muted. Stay away from thick, bold colors such as red or hot pink.

Step Six: If you are unsure how much makeup to wear, it is best to under estimate rather than over estimate. You can always tuck an extra blush, eyeliner and mascara in your purse for touch ups as the day goes on.

Last, your image is important and key while you are at work. You want to look and act professionally and ensuring you are wearing the right makeup is the first step in order to accomplish this goal.
