Considering Drive Away Pricing on a Subaru Levorg for Sale

The Subaru Levorg is an excellent car with a lot to offer, but some dealerships have vague advertising. One has to be careful when buying a car to know the important distinction between drive away pricing and on road costs. In this article, we will look a little closer at the meaning of each term and explain the relationship between them.

Drive Away Pricing:

When you think of the term drive away pricing, you would expect that means there is nothing to pay once you have driven the car away. When a deal covers your on roads, it is a very enticing incentive to buy, but there are a few things to be aware of.

Third Party Insurance:

The first of these is compulsory third party insurance. We all need insurance in order to register the car, and a dealer can usually obtain insurance at a lower price. In reality, the dealer is paying far less than you would pay, so the deal is not really worth as much as you may think. However, none of this money comes directly out of your pocket, and you need insurance anyway, so there is nothing lost here.

Understanding Stamp Duty:

Next, we need to look at stamp duty. This can vary a great deal depending on where you live, and it can add a lot of money to the purchase price. The level of duty is measured using the Green Vehicle Guide to work out a carbon dioxide emissions per kilometer figure. The dealer cannot change this figure, so if your dealer offers to cover the cost of stamp duty as a promotion, they will take into account how the duty is calculated and how much it is. As such, you will only tend to find these kinds of drive away promotions on cars with lower emission figures.

The Luxury Car Tax:

At the top end of the car industry, we find the luxury car segment and the Luxury Car Tax (LCT). This was introduced 15 years ago and is very unpopular in the car industry because it stifles sales. There is a 33% charge on every consumer dollar that is spent on a car that costs over $63,184. If the car is a fuel efficient model that uses less than 7L/100km the LCT threshold rises to $75,375. It is not very likely that you would ever find a dealer that is willing to pay the LCT as part of a drive away promotion.
