Whether your child is studying in one of the best English medium schools in Navsari or in one of the best CBSE schools in Gujarat, as parents you too become extremely excited, along with the kids for the long awaited school summer vacation.

Summer brings back with itself the time to relax with kids, family and friends. The clear sky, the lush greenery and bright sunshine makes the season a beautiful time to enjoy the vacation and be adventurous. But despite the goodness of summer, there are certain negativity also accompanying this season.

Summers do bring certain health risks. Our body is more susceptible to a plethora of problems – skin, hair and problems like sunstroke.

So to keep your children’s body resistant against such problems, its best to follow the below tips.

Prevent Dehydration:

Dehydration is the most common summer health concern in kids, mainly because they’re so busy playing, they simply forget to drink! They probably look like they’re drinking more than usual, but it’s likely to still be less than what their bodies need in hot weather. The signs of dehydration include extreme thirst, fatigue and very little urine output. To avoid dehydration give them plenty of fluids like coconut water, fruit juices or oral rehydration solution to drink.

If they get bored of drinking the normal water, you can definitely make a bowl of healthy soup for them. Come up with interesting combinations of vegetables that will not only soothe their taste buds, but will also keep them healthy in the summers.

Go For Simplest Of Foods To Improve Digestion:

During summers aim to staying fit with the simplest of foods.

Include lots of coloured and green vegetables in your children’s diet. They have a good amount of nutrients that will keep them fit during the summers. However, make sure you thoroughly wash the vegetables with warm water or with salt to get rid of the accumulated dirt. Moreover, encourage children to eat steamed vegetables tossed with sauces, noodles or pasta’s as they make a healthy fun-food option prepared at home.

Natural Herbs to Avoid Infections:

Indian herbs are very special. You must add fenugreek (meethi) seeds, cumin (zeera) seeds, basil (tulsi) and mint to your children’s food daily, as they will help to improve the digestion and prevent your child from all sorts of summer infections. You should definitely include garlic, hing, pepper, ginger and turmeric in the food to gain strength, to aid the digestive system.

Very Important: Skip Eating Outside:

Stop your kids from eating fried chips, pre- cut fruits and juices from road side vendors and stick to high quality and hygiene.

Even street foods like pani puri, bhel puri, vada pav, samosas and pakoras may seem very tempting during this season, but they tend to contain bacteria that may cause indigestion. So make sure you avoid these temptations and stick to healthy home food for your child.

Summer is a time meant for fun and relaxation and a time to recharge before school starts again. However, you need to be cautious that your child has to be at his best once he starts his academic year in the school after the vacation ends. After all, it’s been your dream that your child excels in one of the top schools in Gujarat or in one of the top schools in the state. And by taking certain precautions you can let your kids enjoy their vacations without any worries for their health!
