Android and IOS are both unbeatable when it comes to app development for mobile application platform. To choose best among the two is a difficult task as both offers lucrative career. Before you select one of them, it is necessary to clear some necessary facts about them which will ease your decision-making process. In this article, we will compare the two operating system on the basis of various parameters.

Android is developed by Google and is based on OS Linux whereas IOS is developed by Apple Inc. and belongs to OS X and UNIX family. Android is an open source model but IOS is closed with open source components. Android is supported by many devices like Motorola, HTC, Samsung, LG, Nexus, Sony and much more while IOS supports only devices developed by Apple for iPhone, iPod etc. Files transfer is easier in Android than IOS; using USB port and Android File Transfer desktop app. Photos can be transferred via USB without apps. Whereas in IOS, media files can be transferred using iTunes desktop app. Photos can be transferred out via USB without apps.

Most applications first get released for the IOS platform and then for Android. But more apps are released for Android than for IOS, because of its open-source model. Android has a larger user-base but IOS apps generally deliver greater revenue. Android is based on JAVA programming language; which is much easier to learn and code for beginners also whereas IOS is based on Objective-C and Swift.

Android’s development toolkit is the Android Studio. Both Android’s and IOS’ development toolkits are available free of cost. Android supports as many as 19,000 screen size variations whereas the screen size variation in IOS is restricted to a few dozen and there are just three sizes of graphics for this. The design system in Android is such that it allows for partitioning of apps into activities and fragments. But in IOS, Navigation and organization is done by view controllers. When it comes to simulators, Android’s simulators may end up being quite problematic. This is because of the numerous, varied models that run on Android. IOS wins in this case. With limited models, it offers just one simulator that you can invoke for the appropriate model. The documentation provided for both Android development and Ios is quite impressive and comprehensive.

So, this was about the comparison of both; IOS and Google app development platforms. Even considering other factors like market share, ease of up-gradation, revenue, ease of up-gradation and more, both the platforms seem to be close to the winning edge. So, as an individual, if you want to decide which training course to pursue, it would only be wise if you based your choice on your personal interests, education, skill, and circumstances.
