There are many ways to make your house unique by expressing yourself through interior design. The bathroom is no different and shouldn’t be neglected. Here’s a few pointers on how you can choose the right tiles for your bathroom.

Tile Placement

Depending on the size of your bathroom, the placement of your bath can influence your tile choice and placement. If you only have a small space between your bath and toilet, for example, you may decide the better option is smaller tiles rather than large ones. This will help reduce the wastage and smaller tiles will help to connect the room.

Making a space look bigger

If you have a small bathroom then you may be wondering if wall tiles in your bathroom could help to make it look bigger.

The answer is yes. You will probably already know that its best to use lighter colours in a small room to make it look bigger – the same is true when it comes to tiles. Using white or lighter coloured tiles really help your bathroom to feel bigger.

A good way to bounce light around the room is to use glossy tiles on the walls as they are reflective.

Patterns

Adding tiles to your bathroom means that you can add amazing patterns that you otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to have if you use wallpaper, paint or lino on the floor.

Whether you’re looking to try something a little different by using different coloured tiles in a repeating pattern or you may even decide to go for a patterned tile.

There are so many colours and patterns to choose from. You may have in mind a modern pattern or maybe even Victorian inspired tiles to fit the aesthetic of your home, the choices are endless and can bring a lot of style to a room and show off your individuality too.

What Size Tile?

Today, there is such a huge number of different tiles out there that anything is possible. Many interior designers say, the smaller the room, the smaller the tile should be.

However, using a small tile can result in a lot of grout lines. They can also look too busy and not appealing to the eye.

It is not uncommon for people to mix the sizes of tiles up in the bathroom. This can add dimension and tone and will look great if put together properly. Take a look at the growing range of ceramic tiles to get some inspiration.

Get Inspired

It can be hard to decide on tiles when looking at them on the shelf in a shop. Try looking for inspiration on Pinterest and interior design websites. This way you can see what your bathroom could look like or even create ideas that you’d never think would work.

Take pictures of inspiration that you like when you go shopping so you can look and compare the tiles in the shop. And don’t forget, keep bathroom furniture white so that you don’t have to match coloured tiles with coloured furniture.
