SBI is always known as a brand that focuses on employee-centric initiatives. It has proved this fact yet again by introducing this Work from Home facility for its approximately 200,000 employees. The SBI PO exam is scheduled in the end of this month and this has come up as a major reason for SBI PO aspirants to strive hard and make it up there.

This facility was started by ICICI Bank much earlier, it was meant only for women employees only.

The freedom to work with mobile devices

The employee has been given the facility of working from his/her personal device. He/she can easily log into the server of the bank and can work without reporting to work.

Work on priority

The employee has been given the facility of working on matters that require urgent attention and deliver a focused output.

All the devices linked to the bank server

The bank has ensured the connection of all the devices to the bank server to help this initiative of working from home. The information and data is slated to be protected by the cyber security measures in place. This will consider the sensitivity of the issue.

Monitoring from the central level

The monitoring of the work done and the outcome would be taken care of at the Central level only. It would also grant scope for improvements in the existing procedure with the progress of time. This has planned to be done through carefully designed Management Information Systems and Dashboards.

New services would be added shortly

With onset of Recruitment in SBI, the bank has also announced that in the days to come, monitoring of complaints, claims and settlements would also be made comprehensive for banks and employees.

However, a few aspects mentioned below cannot be ignored:

  1. This is an employee centric move and has been executed only taking into the positive aspects.
  2. The banking industry is host to sensitive information and therefore the monitoring would be undertaken very carefully and with the right controls in place.
  3. The productivity of the employee becomes difficult to monitor and that would be required to be taken care of.
  4. The employee should have a very clear reason for not going to the branch and that must be clear.
