Wonderful Narayanpet silk sarees online

Narayanpet is a town, mandal, revenue division and mucicipality with a council of 23 ward members in Mahbubnargar district in Andhra Pradesh, India. The town specializes in handloomed sari manufacturing and Gold ornaments. Narayanpet is an Assembly constituency. According to the Imperial Gazetter of India, Narayanpet was taluk in Mahbubnagar district. Hyderabad State.

The primary source of income for people is through weaving saree. Because of scarcity of water (no river nearby but 45 km Krishna) and bad transportation (no railway station but 30 km saidapur called Narayanpet road railway station) there is no major industry here. The production of the saree can be dated back to 1630 AD when Chattrapati shivaji Maharaj was travelling across the Narayanpet region he set up camp in hyderabad. He continued with the travels after a few days but left behind him a few weavers who started the production of sarees.

Thus, the Narayanpet region has a lot of Maharashtrian influence. It is still considered auspicious to wear a Narayanpet saree in Maharashtra and it also made as an offering to the Goddess. The knowledge of manufacturing the product became a way of life of the inhabitants i.e. it is passed on from one generation to the other.

The Narayanpet style is recognized by the square pattern throughout the saree on the rich silk cloth. The checks are in Zari. The patterns themselves can be designed by the weavers on graph paper beforehand, and then extrapolated to the entirety of the cloth. The border is of contrasting colour and is recognized by the temple border at its edges. Use of gold Zari Adding to the quality of the saris produced in Narayanpet is the weavers use of zari in the Embriodery. It is often used in the borders, the pallu, and throughtout the sari itself, whenever called for.

Eight sarees are made together on one loom. Hence 56 yards is put at once on the loom for weaving. The yarn is first boiled for 4-5 hrs in a liquor containing 100 gms caustic soda 50 gm soda ash made 100 lits of soft water. After the boiling procedure is completed the cotton yarn is then processed for bleaching. It is mainly done to remove the natural color of the yarn and then will be easily dyed.

The Narayanpet saree is recognized by the checks made of zari throughout the saree on the rich silk cloth. The border which consitiutes of a contrasting colour and has a temple border (triangles in series) at the edge of the border. The weaving of the saree makes use of 8 threads in the weaving at the border which makes the saree stronger and is unique of this saree.

Narayanpet Sarees are made from a blend of silk and cotton in different proportions. Popular amongst all sections of society, for their fine transparent weave, attractive designs and beautiful borders, these sarees give that captivating, womanly look that the wearer desires. Bewitching block prints of geometrical shapes and batik floral designs adorn the saree beautifully. Hand-made designs on the saree also make it look very appealing. The narayanpet sarees are light, airy, comfortable and very colourful.
