Analysis of SBI Clerk Prelims Exam 2016

The State Bank of India (SBI) is the largest public bank in India. It conducts the exam for the clerical posts every year. To become an SBI clerk, the candidate needs to clear the two phases of the whole exam process. The first stage is the preliminary exam and the second stage is the mains exam. Earlier, there use to the third stage which was the interview, but it has now been scrapped.

The SBI Clerk 2017 exam for the preliminary stage will be conducted in the month of June this year. There is a lot of time left for a proper preparation. It is crucial to know the pattern of the exam and what the SBI Clerk Exam want from the candidates. To know it better we will analyze prelims paper of the year 2016 so that the aspirant can prepare accordingly.

SBI Clerk Prelims Paper 2016:

The prelims paper consist of three sections-

  1. English Language
  2. Numerical Ability
  3. Reasoning Ability

Taking each section individually-

1. English Language:

The total number of questions in this section is 30, and the level of question paper in 2016 was easy to moderate.

  • There were 10 questions of Reading Comprehension which were easy to solve.
  • 5 questions were from Cloze Test. The level of questions was easy.
  • 5 questions were from spotting Spelling mistakes. The level of questions was easy.
  • 5 questions were from Para jumbles. The level of questions was easy.
  • 5 questions were from Spotting Errors. The level of questions was easy.

2. Numerical Ability:

The total number of questions were 35, and the level of question paper in 2016 was easy to moderate.

  • 5 questions of Number Systems out of which 2 questions were easy and 3 were tough.
  • 10 easy questions of Simplification.
  • 5 easy questions of Data Interpretation.
  • 15 moderate Miscellaneous questions.

3. Reasoning Ability:

The total number of questions were 35, and the level of questions was easy.

  • 5 questions were asked from Inequalities. The level was easy.
  • 5 questions were asked from Sitting Arrangements. The sitting arrangement was asked for circular sets, all facing the center. The level was easy.
  • 5 questions were asked from Puzzle. The level was easy.
  • 5 questions were asked to form Alphanumeric Series. The level was easy.
  • Two to Three questions were asked from Coding and Decoding. The level was easy.
  • 5 questions were asked from Number Series. The level was easy.
  • 5 easy questions were asked of Miscellaneous nature.
  • No questions were asked from Syllogism in 2016 SBI Clerk prelims exam.

The SBI Clerk result for the prelims will be declared in the month of July 2017. After which the selected candidates have to appear for the Mains exam. The students are advised to study smart. All the topics of the syllabus should be covered, and the special focus should be given to the important topics which have been asked multiple times. The key to clear the exam is doing a lot of practice and taking mock tests.
