A New Dawn for Brands: the Effects of Social Media
Posted: Apr 18, 2017
Internet usage has exponentially increased over the last two decades. This has been largely due to the rise of social media sites. Social media has tremendously revolutionized how we communicate and interact with people in our day-to-daylives. How often do you find yourself sliding through your Facebook page without even knowing it? Well, that is the magic of social media. As time goes by, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find people who are not on at least one social media site. Some people post day-to-daylife updates on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp among others. This helps them keep in touch with families and friends. The curtains are almost closing down for sending letters and greeting cards via the post office.
For businesses, social media platforms have changed the face of transactions. The dream of a global village has been realized. Through social media sites such as LinkedIn for example, brands now interact with others within their niche across the globe.
Greater Online Presence, More Profits
Social media has also changed the way people do business. Businesses that are not actively engaged with their consumers online are perhaps writing their will or at worst digging their graves. Everyone is on social media, making it the place to take business. The more people get to know about your business, the more you will make profits and the more your business will grow.
Companies are now employing people to help manage online relationships with their customers. This shows that social media is something not to be taken lightly. If a company, for example, does something that is not expected of them and it goes viral on social media, the company may suffer losses from that even if it was just a one-time thing.
Wider Networking Platform
As a businessperson, social media sites can help you reach millions of people across the world for free. This can help you boost your business because everyone who is seeing your stuff is a potential client. Again, it gives you an opportunity to answer questions from your clients about your business. By interacting with your clients, you get to know what they want and give them just that.
Instagram gives you a platform to post photos and videos. This can give you an opportunity to advertise and or build your brand. Some personalities with many followers and therefore many likes on their photos have been hired to advertise companies’ products. Such companies are well aware that such personalities will make their products reach many people within a short time. The companies also rely on such great personalities to get free Instagram likes, which might help strengthen their brand in one way or another.
The power of social media cannot be underestimated. It grows and breaks businesses and brands in equal measure. It is a tool whose presence you cannot ignore. You must use it carefully though to keep yourself alive, especially if you are using it for business. For some, it is a necessary evil.
