Route 2: Bombay Goa Highway via NH 66

The delightful picturesque journey from Mumbai to Goa through National Highway 66 is a beautiful and everlasting experience. The road trip of 577 kilometres is full of green paddy fields, coconut and nut plantations along with other serene vistas. This route also takes around 12-14 hours and goes through Panvel, Kolad, Chiplun, Sawantwadi to reach Goa. The scenic route provides a beach side halt at gorgeous Ganpatipule, Karnala Bird sanctuary in Panvel, port city Pen along with some small towns. There are many roadside restaurants throughout the journey where you can have delicious local cuisine along with much needed rest. Once you reach Chiplun, enjoy the waterfalls, temples and famous Ratnagiri mangoes. If you are visiting in the mango season it is better to buy the Ratnagiri Alphonsos which are easily available along the route at best rates. The other important sight of the route includes the majestic Sindhudurg, which is an incredible fort on the Arabian Sea. After visiting the fort, you can drive along valleys and reach the breathtaking destination that is Goa.
