Are Vape Pens Harmful?

Vape pens are a phenomenon which is growing at a lightning fast phenomenon. Their popularity is on the rise with the younger generation for various reasons. So what is a Vape pen? It is a little device in the size of a standard pen to a large cigar. You can use them to inhale the glycol and other herbs and blow out the vapor.

The main components of a standard vaporizer are:

Liquid Cartridge

It is also called E-liquid and is used to produce the vapor. Those having flavor can contain the nicotine.

Atomizer

It is the heating element.

Battery

It is used to charge the device for long usage.

The usage is simple. When you turn on the vaporizer, it heats up the liquid and turns it into aerosol. You can slowly smoke it and then blow out the clouds of the flavor which you have used. The teens simply like the flavor and puffing around with the vape pens.

Is the use of the vape pens dangerous?

When the teens tell you that there are no harmful effects of using the vape pens, they may be right. There are no studies to show that the vape pens are dangerous. So what makes them harmful? Here are few reasons:

• There are not too many studies which are done on the vape pens that prove their harmful effects.
• Kids are crazy about them. They are a new concept in the market so many teens want to give it a try irrespective of the health risks.

Although there are some experts suggest that there may some harmful things in them. There is also the evidence at high temperatures the glycol and glycerin is converted into the formaldehydes and acetaldehydes. These chemicals are found to be carcinogenic when they are inhaled into the lungs.

As the contents of the e-cigarettes aren’t much publicized so there is no way to know what is inside the bottle of the flavored liquid.

There have been some studies which suggest presence of diethylene glycol, a toxin which is often found in the juice cigarettes. They are one of the many toxic chemicals that have been found in the liquids frequently used in the concentrate vape pen. There are many which claim the purest of the liquids but you hardly know what goes inside these colored and flavored e-liquid cartridge.

So, next time when your teenager says he likes vaping, tell him use them only after an expert’s advice.
