The Rising Trend of Hindi Cartoon Shows in India
Posted: May 20, 2017
Hindi Cartoon shows are in high demand as people have wearied out seeing the repetitive and unoriginal western animated shows. The rising trend is resultant of the robust Indian cartoon shows such as Chhota Bheem and Little Krishna. It has been a long time since people were watching the same good-old cartoon shows on the restricted amount of cartoon channels (Pogo, Cartoon Network). While the Indian animated industry came pretty early in the picture, they were never in competition for the reason of not being able to bestow the same level of content as compared to their foreign counterparts.
At a time when Disney and Pixar were making millions by producing trailblazing cartoon movies, Indian animation industry was lagging behind by a substantial margin. Trying to make the best of 2D animation, the cartoon shows failed to allure the children. And it is very understandable counting it was impossible to portray the similar level of grandiose and special effects with beginners’ level tech. It took a long time for our animation artists to master the software and learn to create the quality animation that could match with what Hollywood or Korean industry were doing.
American shows were still popular to a certain extent but the Korean and Japanese programs dominated our nation. While Pokémon became the favorite of both the kids as well as the merchandising companies; Beyblade acquired the toy market. Amidst of all this, it would have been extremely hard for anyone to find a way out to make one’s own impression and break the loop of failure.
Thankfully, Chhota Bheem was developed. Currently, the most watched Indian animated show of the country; Chhota Bheem took some time to dethrone the overseas shows. The ideology behind the program to proffer the kids with their nation's cultural and mythological stories worked well. Since the concepts were never explored by any western Industry before; Chhota Bheem got the advantage of delivering novel content.
Instead of the déjà vu inducing superhero and comic book centered Hindi cartoon shows, kids began to admire their own superheroes. Since then till now, the worth of homegrown cartoon characters has bolstered a lot and it is only a matter of time when we will have an extensive roster of our own cartoon characters that will be able to compete well with the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy.
As of now, there are many Hindi cartoon shows that air on TV which are getting good feedback.
