Global clinical studies have indicated that infusing isolated autologous stem cells back in the brain through cerebrospinal fluid, brings lot of improvements in children with cerebral palsy. The findings further suggest that stem cells can morph into many important tissue specific cells of the body, including neurological cells. These cells can as well be responsible for secreting different essential signalling factors, to promote faster repairing to many injured sites.

Cerebral Palsy, is a neurodegenerative indication caused due to gestational damage to the foetus, mainly related to the oxygen deprivation. It has been estimated that neuronal cells, responsible for transmission of important messages from brain to different other parts of the body, are lost or damaged due to hypoxic trauma; faced by the mother.

Studies completely support autologous applications of stem cells, rendering it to be safe without any evidence of adverse reaction during or post treatment. However, few studies reported mild symptomatic exhibition of immune reactions, like mild fever, chills, etc. few hours post procedure; but there were no signs and expressions of any infections. While analysing the post procedural improvements, medical specialists have expressed remarkable improvements in motor abilities. The post procedural ratings and score, was found to be higher in every domain. Accordingly, the same positive findings were repeated through different clinical studies, promoting their autologous applications; contrary to which, studies involving applications of allogenic stem cells from umbilical cord blood, cord tissue are found to be effective but unpredictable.

However, application of stem cells has been observed to be very effective way to regenerate body’s lost or weakened cells to restore their functional attributes, there has been lot of misunderstanding regarding their current clinical state; necessitating a thorough understanding of stem cells and their intrinsic mechanism; to aggravate their clinical use.

Various autologous sources have been acknowledged to be the most abundant sources of multipotent stem cells; amongst which, bone marrow and adipose tissues are found to be the most popular. Technology has now enabled easy isolation of these stem cells, without any severe interventions to enrich them in a sterile environment and direct back at the site of injury, where they are in demand. Studies have confirmed their strong networking ability, once infused back inside the body; through which they can attract other immunological cells towards the target for faster recovery. These cells have as well been thought of secreting various growth factors, that are necessary to create a perfect microenvironment for stem cells multiplication and growth. The creation of a microenvironment, thus facilitate stronger stimulation of resident stem cells to support the newly added ones, in speedy regeneration of lost as well as diseased cells.

In this regard, stem cells therapy for cerebral palsy, is found to be highly effective in regenerating lost and diseased neurons, to restore their function back. According to the treatment outcome from various clinical studies and testimonials from the patients, who have undergone stem cells therapy; it can be easily concluded that stem cells therapy for cerebral palsy is a feasible and safe alternative, which can be opted to allow considerable muscular strength and functional independence. It should as well be importantly noted that application of stem cells has so far not reported any adverse reaction, except for some minor post-operative clinical symptoms, such as fever, headache, etc. that generally resolves over the period of time.

Cerebral Palsy is a blanket term for a brain damage with a motor impairment; caused due to brain injury or abnormal development before, during or immediately after birth. A child with the palsy generally exhibits signs of physical as well as mental impairment. However, the kind and the extent of motor dysfunction, parts of the body as well as the number of limbs involved will be different in different individuals. In short, every case is unique of its kind; one may be totally paralytic and dependent; whereas the other may be slightly symptomatic with little assistance.
