Today all what you get after moving out of the house is pollution, pollution and pollution! And this in turn has given rise to many allergies and many respiratory diseases. In such surroundings, Air purifiers prove to be the best medicines to such diseases. Air Purifiers eliminate dust, pollutants, allergens, contaminants, smoke, mites, bacteria, virus, pollen, molds, odors, gas etc. thus purifying the air. The indoor air pollution has become shooting high that the necessity of having an air purifier has amplified. Hence, air purifiers are not only at offices but at home too. There are a number of brands coming up each day a consumer should have the knowledge of the technologies used so as to opt the best option from them all.

There are various technologies used in order to address this issue:

  • Passive Technology: With this technology, the air is purified by drawing the air to the purifier. The air is purified by passing it through the filters. The air gets purified from contaminants, micro-organisms, allergens, dust particles, pollens etc.
  • HEPA and generic filters are both used to purify solid particles from air.
  • Activated carbon air filters are used to remove chemical compounds and odors.
  • Electrostatic precipitators are used to filter very small particles.
  • UV Filters are used to kill micro-organisms in the air.
  • Also, the filters under the passive technology need to have these filters.
  • Active Technology: By producing some kind of effect in the air, air gets purified outside the purifying unit. They are of two types:
  • Ionizer Purifier: The ions produced get attached to particles& eliminate chemical compounds, dust particles etc from air.
  • Ozone Generators: The molecules of oxygen are altered, turning into ozone thereby destroying micro-organisms and removing odors and gases from air.
  • Active& Passive Technology: These are the most efficient purifiers as they use a combination of both the technologies mentioned above.

The following are the concerns addressed by the Air Purifiers:

  • Allergies: Living in an urbanized city comes with a lot of drawbacks. One being that we are exposed to a lot of pollution. And hence a purifier that helps you get rid of such dust, pollens and micro-organisms should be bought.
  • Asthma: A filter that not only purifies but oxidizes the air is needed in such cases. Asthma is a chronic breathing disease which will get worsened if exposed to such pollution.
  • Odor: Moder4n Day Homes have less ventilation inside and hence odors like painting, cooking, burning etc do not move out of the house easily. To overcome, such issues one needs a purifier.
  • Smoke: this becomes one major concern for the houses near industries or on roadside. Cooking and burning are also reasons for the generation of smoke. Air purifier that can clean the solid particles of such smoke is a must.
  • Cold, Flu and Virus: apart from large sized micro-organisms, there are very tiny particles and micro-organisms in the air; they cause diseases like cold &flu. These days, Air Purifier Filters are capable of killing such tiny particles. Opting a purifier like this, will help you look after your health and will act as a precautionary step.

These are just a few concerns that I talked about; there are many others like Pet Dander, Mold, and Chemicals etc.

Now, let’s talk about the purifiers that are accessible to you:

  • Room Air Purifiers: These purifiers take up very small space of your house. They are extremely versatile, light weight and easy to carry. One can put these at any place literally in their living rooms.
  • Ion Generator: They produce Ions which get attached to particles and eliminate chemical compounds, dust particles etc. from air.
  • Whole –house air purifiers: These purifiers cleanse the air of the whole house. They are generally set up in central heating system. It is the actual fan included in the air purifier, by taking in the actual air, moves through the filtration system and emits the fresh air in the environment.
  • HEPA Filtered Air purifiers: HEPA means High Efficiency Particulate Air and are manufactured from charcoal. It takes in all the dust particles, smoke and impurities along with other air- borne particles. After the air gets cleansed, the air gets circulated in the house.

Article Summary: Through the above article, I aimed to show the importance of air purifiers for Home and offices both, as the air around us is no more suitable for us to breathe. The increasing number of people suffering from respiratory diseases is another reason for you to buy an air purifier.
