The Skoda Octavia Scout underwent a facelift recently, only a day after the debut of the Octavia RS performance variant. The Octavia Scout facelift has a number of features that are shared with both the RS models and the rest of the Octavia revised range. The Scout has widely reported features, such as a new front end design, a new grille, and bonnet, auxiliary headlamp units, tweaked bumpers and LED lights. However, as well as these new features there are three other interesting areas that you may not be aware of.

1. Improved Off Road Capability:

The Octavia Scout is a car that is at home when soft off roading with its 4x4 drivetrain. The 2017 model has added new features to improve off road handling and performance. We still have the off road styling, wheel arch extensions and 30mm taller suspension over other wagons in the range. However, we now have plastic covers to protect the brake and fuel lines fitted as standard. The all wheel drive system now features an electronic differential lock on the front and rear axles. The revised Scout has improved ramp angles of 16.6 degrees on the front and 14.5 degrees at the back.

2. The Available Engines:

In Europe, this updated Scout has three different powerplants available to choose from. The first is a 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol unit that generates 132kW of power. The other two options are based on the Volkswagen 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine, and they generate 110 kW and 135 kW of power respectively. In Australia, we only have two of these engines to choose from, the 1.8 litre petrol and the 2.0 litre turbo diesel.

3. Other Interesting Specifications:

Aside from the fairly controversial new front end styling, there are other specifications that many people are not aware of, such as: LED adaptive headlights, a 9.2" touchscreen infotainment center, sat nav, 4G connectivity, WiFi hotspot, trailer assistance, parking assist, city emergency braking and blind spot monitoring. These additional safety and lifestyle features add a great deal of value and functionality to the Octavia Scout.
