You may not put your attention to it but plumbing problems are more common than you think. If you’ve lived in your home for years now, you’ve probably encountered such case and you know how inconvenient it can be.

Hiring a professional plumber to fix leaky faucets, blocked drains Sydney or any pipe problems can be tricky. It is important to be skeptical and make the right decision. If you made the mistake of hiring low-quality plumbers, you will only end up costing more in the long run.

So here are some of the factors that you should consider when hiring a professional plumber:

1. License

Before you hire a plumber, make sure to check if they are licensed. Plumbers should always have the proper certification with them. Ask for a physical proof not just verbal. Being licensed, means that the plumber is registered with a governing body at the state or local level. Hiring someone that does not have a license can risk the quality of their work. His work may not pass inspection and like mentioned earlier, will only cost you more in the long run.

2. Experience

Don’t hesitate to ask how long they have been in business. Experience is always a good reference in hiring plumbers. It is a no-brainer that you should pick someone that has already the experience. They will more likely get the job done fast and thoroughly compared to inexperience plumbers.

3. Cost

Many plumbing companies offer free estimates. Don’t settle for someone that gives cost estimate based on what they heard from you. A professional plumbing services company should come to your house, look at the job and give estimate. Once they have assessed the issue, they will give you the basic estimated cost of materials and total cost can be different. So, ask for the basic cost, labor and repair fee and always allocate a contingency in case something comes up.

4. Guarantee/Warranty

Plumbers should guarantee their work and it is your responsibility to check on it. Mostly warranties cover one year plumber’s work. If he/she refuses to give you warranty, move on and look for a more professional plumbing service company.

5. Referrals

Everyone wants to work with someone they know and trust. If you’re not sure about the plumbing company that you will hire, look for people they have work with before or if they have a website, look for reviews and testimonials. Ask for recommendations from family and friends if they know a local plumbing service company.
