Look at the things around you! You will find that anything and everything that is made from plastic has beautiful color and smooth finishing. Well, the secret behind the eye-catching appearance is attributable to Masterbatch. Masterbatch can be defined as solid or liquid additives that are added to the polymer to impart color and specific properties to plastic. Using it is an economical methodology to color the polymers that are typically used for making a variety of plastic products.

Types Of Masterbatch:

White Masterbatch

Titanium dioxide being the best kind of whitener and having the highest coloring power is preferably used for making white masterbatch. However, cheaper alternatives like barium sulphate, lithopone and calcium carbonate are also employed at times. White Masterbatch imparts brightness, whiteness, undertone and tinning strength to the final product.

Black Masterbatch

Black Masterbatch is produced out of carbon black pigment. Different grades of carbon are used for different applications.

Color Masterbatch

Different forms of Color Masterbatch can be utilized depending on the visual requirements of the polymer for which the Masterbatch is required. They are made from high-grade pigments and impart color, consistency, thermal stability and light fastness to plastic products. The application areas of Color Masterbatch include HDPE pipe, wire and cables etc.

UV Masterbatch

UV Masterbatch increases the resistance of plastic to ultra violet rays. It is used for films, crates, garden chairs, irrigation pipes and automobile components.

Optical Brightener Masterbatch

Optical Brightener Masterbatch is added to polymers to reduce yellowing, to improve whiteness and brightness of the object. It absorbs the ultra-violet radiation and re-emits blue light.

Antiblock Masterbatch

It is made by combining pure silica and amide additives. Antiblock Masterbatch improves the opening characteristic of films and bags.

Antioxidant Masterbatch

It has diverse industrial applications such as films, pipes, injection molded parts, blow molded items, etc. It helps to retain the glow and mechanical properties of the product that may otherwise deteriorate.

Silicone Masterbatch

It improves scratch resistance of carrier polymer, along with improved lubricity and abrasion resistance. It also lessens coefficient of friction and has high thermal stability.

Metallic Masterbatch

It provides glitter and a metallic look to the plastic products. Metallic masterbatch is made from metallic pigments. It is basically used in cosmetic tubes.

Marble And Granite Masterbatch

Mainly used in HDPE optical and fiber ducts, Marble and Granite Masterbatch adds lubricity, enhances resistance to abrasion and reduces coefficient of friction.
