Get your Synthetic Turf Installed by Professionals
Posted: Feb 25, 2014
The term "installing synthetic turf" might be easy sounding but surprisingly it is not easy at all. Most of us are in a misconception that installing synthetic turf means placing a carpet on the floor, but the fact is that it requires much more conscious approach. If it was that easy, this concept would have become world popular by now. Of course, many across the globe prefer it, but not everyone likes it and this is because of the installation pangs presented by it. It is easier said than done and requires number of pre-installation preparations.
The installation process may take one day or even more depending upon the area to be covered with synthetic turf. Moreover, it requires two people to finish the task, but it is better if you have more than two workers for this task. You will also need specialized tools and equipment to get this job done. To initiate the installation process, you will first have to measure the area to be covered. You need to measure the area and decide the boundaries under which you want to get artificial grass installed.
The second step is to remove the existing grass, weeds and ground from the area. A digger or a mower could do this easily. Then you will have to level the area, which you can do with a leveller tool, a roller or even a spade if your budget doesn’t allow you to hire a rolling machine. The reason why levelling of the surface is important is that if your ground is uneven and once the synthetic turf is laid down, there would be no other option then to move around on an uneven surface.
After the flattening process is over, it is all set to see the first layer of the foundation of your synthetic turf. The first layer consists of covering the existing dust with decomposed rocks. The workers will put a layer of rocks in the entire area, which would be around one inch in extensiveness. This layer is installed as an extra measure because the dirt itself will not remain uneven. Once this is done successfully, it's time to put another layer, which is the final layer or the main layer of synthetic turf.
Basically, it's exactly like placing a carpet in the home, but this needs extra care for many reasons. The layers are placed side-by-side until the artificial grass covers the entire area. A very important point to take care of is that you will have to leave a little extra turf on the edges of the area so that it is tucked in for perfect and durable fitting. It will ensure that there are no gaps left anywhere. This is perhaps the hardest and most time-consuming task of the entire process, which is perhaps over.
Next step is to distribute the infill into the synthetic grass to make the blades of the synthetic grass stand upright. This will give it a genuine look and provide the extra cushion/ comfort that natural grass provides. In the end, the only question remain is - how to maintain and make it work everlasting. In this context, the first thing is that it would hardly require any sort of maintenance if the installation has been conducted properly. It will not require watering, mowing, or any other maintenance task required by natural grass lawn. It will not even present any problem if you have pets at home.
If you think that you can install synthetic turf on your own, then you are probably underestimating the process. It requires specialized services and expertise of professionals. There are several other requirements and this article gives a brief information on the same.
