Cars are an amazing technological advancement that we all tend to take for-granted in today’s society. We have forgotten just what an amazing leap automobile here for the whole human race. Hopefully we will never forget how important it is to keep these vehicles maintained. Each individual auto part needs to be preserved. If you neglect this practice your vehicle will be more likely to break down on a regular basis. It will even look bad, aesthetically.

It is an inescapable fact that your automobile will quit working all together one day. You will probably not be the owner when this happens. But it is still a great idea to keep your car living for as long as possible. And this is where good maintenance habits come into play. Here are some great tips to help you do this:

Maintaining the brakes

No-one needs to have it explained to them how important the brakes are. Just imagine being out, driving your vehicle and suddenly being aware of a lack of brakes. You would be toast. Keeping your brakes maintained should therefore be one of the important things you do with your vehicle. Part of this would be replacing brake fluid at least once every two years.

If you would like to check to see whether your brake fluid requires replacing, here’s a tip: look at what colour it currently is. It should be a clear brown hue. It most definitely should not be black. If it is, recoil in horror and get that brake fluid changed immediately.

Inspect the battery regularly

As we all know, you might have a tank full of petrol, but if the battery is dead you won’t be driving anywhere any time soon. What’s more, even if the battery works, but are faulty in some way, there can be mechanical repercussions further down the line. Fuses can get damaged and wires can get burned. Have a look at your battery on a once monthly basis and check for these warning signs: Loose wires, evidence of burning and rust.

If you see any of the aforementioned things, have them tended to straight away. If you spot a wire that is not as tight as it should be or is just dangling, fix it. If you don’t, you may be in a spot of bother later on, resulting in money being spent on expensive repairs.

Have the spark plugs, oil and air filters replace regularly

The air filters will get clogged eventually. All filters do this, otherwise they wouldn’t be doing their job. When an air filter is clogged the result is less efficient. Get your air filter cleaned, and do it at least once a year, preferably twice. As well as that, don’t forget that the oil needs replacing as well. The amount of times you do, this should be once every 8000 Km.

If you follow these handy tips you should be able to put off selling your car for a wee while longer. However, when you find your vehicle beyond maintenance then contact your local car wreckers in Sydney and get the decent cash for old cars.
