How to control plastic wastage?

The goods and chattels we use at home are made of plastic. Almost every usable item in the home is made of it, moreover the food and hygienic products are packed under it to keep them safe from germs. The most important and hardly resistible things like car, laptop and mobile phone are made of it. Many of you might chew on it every day in the form of gum. Your thirst quenching water bottles and food containers are all made of it. In simple words, we can say that our life is like an empty vessel if no plastic materials based goods are there.

Do you know many forms of plastic cannot be recycled whereas some forms can be recycled, but that too up to a few set of times? You might have heard that most of the plastic is recyclable because it is touted in this way. The real face is some bit different where plastic is down-cycled. Suppose you have milk cartoon, and you think of it can be recycled into milk cartoon again, it can be recycled but into lower quality item such as plastic lumber.

At the first phase plastic is one of the most useful product ever, but at the second phase, it turns into a big problem in the form of wastage. Wastage of materials, wrappers, polythene is the big issue of concern. It not only affects our good health but pollutes the environment as well. Tons of wastage is generated every year and out of which ten percent is recycled into new goods. Rest of the percentage remains as it is. The rest of percentage goes to where? The left waste plastic materials end up in beaches, rivers, oceans, landfills and contributes for the big environment disasters. Every dangerous thing that happens in environment immediately influences our lives where people fall sick under the attack of diseases. Here, we have come up with a few steps that can help to control the plastic wastage.

Limit the use of straws or simply refuse to use them.

  • Try to use reusable bags that can be used many times while shopping. One bag takes one thousand years to degrade, so try to avoid throwing a bag after single use.
  • Give up your chewing habit. Keep in mind that you are not only chewing the gum but the toxins also.
  • Buy products that are wrapped or packed in cardboard packages, not in bottles. Cardboard can be easily recycled as compare to plastic.
  • Buy containers that are reusable in your kitchen and can serve the multiple purposes in your kitchen.
  • Most of the food and goods you can buy in your own containers. Make it a healthy habit.
  • Try to avoid frozen foods because they are packaged in huge plastics.
  • If you have kids in the family then try to use cloth diapers instead of plastic made.
  • Try to avoid disposables if not in an emergency. Disposable products are the biggest source of pollution that attracts dangerous bees and insects.

So, these were some of the tips that can help to get rid of wastages.
