Cataract is one of the most common surgeries that elderly patients undergo. If you opt for a good surgeon then there is nothing to worry. 1. Proper eye shield is a must:

4. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided:

After you have undergone cataract surgery, you can resume normal activities immediately. But for activities like gardening, jogging etc you need to wait for a few days. You should consult your surgeon and check with him when you can resume all your regular duties. Remember that when you undergo cataract surgery you should avoid any activity which will strain the eyes too much. You must also ensure that no dirt or grime enters the eyes.

5. Proper rest is a must:

Cataract is a normal surgery. However the patient must understand that he or she must give appropriate rest to the eyes. The patient must avoid watching too much television or reading too much. Eye drops, eye ointments etc that have been prescribed by the doctor need to be used regularly. The eye hospital where you have undergone the surgery will give you proper instructions about how to use the eye drops and any other medicines that have been prescribed by the doctor.

These are some of the basic precautions that the patient must take. The patient may observe a little redness of the eyes etc. However if there is irritation or too much redness or any discomfort then the patient must immediately seek medical advice.
