All About GRE 2017 Exam

GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) is a standardised exam which is widely accepted worldwide for the admissions in the Universities. The students who want to pursue post graduation, master's course, MBA or doctoral course can appear for GRE 2017 exam. The conducting authority of GRE is Educational Testing Service (ETS). ETS is a United States based organisation. A candidate can give GRE in online as well as offline modes. There are more than 1000 test centres available for the candidates in over 160 countries. The time duration of GRE is 3 hours 45 minutes.

GRE 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

There is no age limit and qualification criteria for GRE 2017 exam. As such, there are no eligibility criteria for Gre, but the admissions to various universities are made on the basis of individual eligibility criteria of the Universities to which the GRE aspirant will apply. The candidate is advised to check the requirements of the individual Universities and proceed ahead accordingly.

GRE 2017 Exam Pattern:

GRE Exam is divided into two parts- General Test and Subject Test.

There are 3 sections in the GRE General Test. The sections are as follows-

  • Verbal Reasoning

  • Quantitative Reasoning

  • Verbal Writing

Verbal Reasoning- In the Verbal Reasoning section, there are 2 sections. Each section comprises of 20 questions which need to be completed in the time span of 30 minutes.

Quantitative Reasoning- Quantitative Reasoning section also comprises of 2 sections. Each section comprises of 20 questions which is to be completed in 35 minutes.

Verbal Writing- Verbal Writing which is also known as Analytical Writing comprises of one section with 2 separate tasks to be done on separate time. The time allotted is 30 minutes per task. In this section, the candidate needs to analyse an issue in one task and to analyse an argument in the second task.

Apart from the GRE General Test, the GRE subject test includes two sections- Unscored and Research section whose scores are not included in the actual GRE 2017 scores.

GRE Test Dates 2017:

There are no fixed dates for GRE 2017. The GRE aspirants can take the exam five times a year with a minimum gap of 21 days between the attempts. The test date of the GRE depends upon the availability of test centre selected by the applicant. If the seats have gone full on the date selected by the candidate, then he can either change the date of exam or can change the exam centre. The candidate has to create an account on the official website of GRE to select the date and centre.

GRE Admit Card 2017:

After the registration has been done by the candidate, the exam conducting authority will send the admit card on the email id of the candidate. The admit card will contain the details of the candidate, test centre and the test time. If there happens to be a mistake in the admit card, the candidate can make it correct by the exam authorities.

GRE Results 2017:

The candidates who attempt the GRE exam in online mode can check the results on the GRE account at the official website. The candidates who attempt GRE paper in offline mode, their results will be available within 10-15 days.
